Abstract & Impressionism

Two styles, one artistic vision. Whether abstract or impressionistic, every painting begins with the same goal: to create a meaningful connection through colour, texture and emotion. Oil on canvas original artwork

About Thijs Jan Art

I create abstract and impressionistic oil paintings where colour, texture and composition come together to tell a story. Rich impasto layers and subtle transitions bring light, depth and movement to life. For me, colour is more than aesthetics—it carries meaning. Through my work, I invite viewers to slow down, look closer and discover their own interpretation, where emotion, nature and the human experience come together.

Abstract

Through abstract painting, I explore the essence of a subject by simplifying colour, form and texture. Rich impasto layers create depth and movement, while every colour is chosen to serve a purpose. Rather than providing answers, my work invites each viewer to find their own story.

Impressionism

My fascination with the expression found in simplified colours and forms naturally led me to embrace impressionistic painting.

Commision

I occasionally create commissioned paintings when a story or emotion truly inspires me. These projects are rare, ensuring that every commissioned work remains a personal and authentic creation.
